Week 2 of MTC

Caleb speaking French! The first two weeks he has only studied preach my gospel. Now he is studying French.

He uploaded this video of missionaries playing soccer.

We got to talk to him Thursday Aug 8th and Tuesday Aug 13th. Now it will go to once a week. The red dot on his tag is to show he is English speaking learning French.

Gecko, I think. He talked about seeing one.

Cool artwork!

Hair cuts! Caleb’s hair is still good so he didn’t get a haircut but his companion did!

His companion’s haircut!

They were involved in the Africa Service Project. They cleaned various areas of the MTC. I found these pictures in their Facebook page.

Caleb is way in the back!

I’m assuming these are the washer and drier machines.

Looks like a fire in the distance, when I talk to him I’ll find out!

I love the selfies! I told him I want them to keep coming!

Nice building. They have digital pianos. Caleb has played several times for different meetings.❤️🎵Thanks for sharing your talent my sweet boy!

He just uploaded these. The branch presidency members visited and brought their families. The kids loved playing with the missionaries.

They were learning about the armor of God and had a drawing contest and Caleb won!

They announced who won the drawing contest by doing a hangman. If you look closely it says, “Bishops son Elder Robinson!”

His email from this week:

Hey everyone!

This last week has been pretty chill... until Friday. Friday was when we started learning French. The way the MTC likes to do it, is just shove you in head first. Your teachers that knew English 12 hours ago, just pretend to forget English. Each teacher is different though. One of our teachers is a native French speaker and is very animated, while the other is a native English speaker, and walks through it with us. It is nice since we actually learn stuff with the second teacher.

In the last 3 days we learned how to greet people, how to say bye to people, how to introduce ourself and our companion, how to ask some get to know you questions, how to testify about the Godhead, how to talk about our family, how to do a basic prayer, and give a small testimony. I think that's everything.

Now that we have been in a rhythm for a couple weeks, the time is going by fast. The MTC is nice, but I'm excited to get into the field as well.

On Sunday we had two devotionals. One was from the MTC president, and one was from Elder Bednar. The Elder Bednar one was broadcasted to all MTC's last week, but we couldn't watch it live because of the time zone. The topics for both devotionals ended up being about the Book of Mormon. The thing that stood out to me the most was from the MTC president. He shared, "You cannot read [the Book of Mormon] without feeling something." He shared a few stories where people would doubt the church, and then as soon as they read the Book of Mormon, they got converted.

Another quote I loved was, "if you are truly converted, you will never fall away." I know the Book of Mormon is true, and that it testifies of Christ. The more I study the Book of Mormon, the better I know my Savior. I am grateful for the opportunity to share the Book of Mormon with the people of Abidjan!
