Week 4 of MTC
I believe all these Elders are from Utah!
Pretty sunset in the courtyard.
I LOVE talking to this cutie!
Presidents of the Ghana MTC. Caleb loves talking to them. He will go get American chocolate from sister Lords! He loves hearing about Pres Lords businesses. He owned Edge homes and sold it and a few companies. Super nice people from Heber!
It’s wearing on them a little now that it’s week four of classes and more classes. Really it’s week four and a half since he came on a Wednesday. But they are getting a little loopy😆! Cool picture and nice shoes!
An Elder writing his testimony in French.
Waiting for something…!
Being silly pretending this is a time out chair!
Caleb said they have breakfast and if you get there in time and can fight through the crowd you can get this yummy breakfast. Otherwise it’s rice and chicken.
These are the missionaries watching the cooks and teachers playing soccer. They didn’t go to class because their teachers were playing soccer 😆! I find it funny Caleb went somewhere where they love soccer so much!
He said it was super windy and he didn’t want to change before class. So he’s in his nice clothes with wind blown hair!
This is pigs! He said it was actually pretty good, but wow!
He said the coleslaw, the pig and potatoes was good the rest was not. There was chicken covered in paprika and watered down jello and drink.
The picture didn’t do the size justice, he said this bug was big! We googled it and we think it’s a cockroach!
Caleb was brushing his teeth and looked back and saw the elders all praying and had to snap a picture. He said the floor is tile and nasty so you don’t want to kneel on it.
Pretty clouds! He said it’s always cloudy. He’s right by the coast he said sometimes he can see the ocean in the distance.
This is the condensation on his water bottle. Cool picture! He said the humidity hasn’t bothered him too much. But they are inside a lot. They are working on a dehumidifier for the building.
Another yummy breakfast he got. He said the mission presidents wife said there is a store that has some things from Costco there but they’re really expensive. I am wondering if that’s where they got the Nutella!
He got these given to him.
Here’s a video of him speaking French.
Here is a tour of his room.
Here’s another video of him speaking French, he even prays in this one.
His email from this week:
Bonjour tout le monde!
This email will be a bit shorter because the mtc is boring... not really, just mostly. We are in classes all day, and constantly speaking French.. but only when they tell us to. Im going to be honest, I don't remember what I learned this last week, because each day is an information overload. My brain is fried after every class.
This week has been good though. I was able to share my testimony in French for sacrament meeting. Sunday we had a MTC devotional which was good as well. We also played a lot of soccer this week which was fun.
We also got in a fight with our teacher for an hour which was fun. Not an actual fight, but people in our district were arguing with him because we didn't get the prep assignment done, because we were doing the other teachers assignment, so we didn't have time. We also had the wrong schedule, but they refused to give us the right one. So we had companionship interviews with that teacher, and since we are the district leaders, we got a talking to for an hour.
There were two things that stood out to me during the MTC devotional. The first thing was the scripture, "nevertheless not my will, but thy will be done." They took the scripture and said it is probably the greatest 9 words in the scriptures. They also said to change the word "nevertheless" to "despite everything." I like this because it changes our perspective to show how it doesn't matter what happens, we will do the Lord's will.
The second thing was Christ's infinite atonement. The MTC president shared that when we get judged in heaven, he likes to think it'll look like this:
Jesus: What kind of missionary were you?
Us: I tried hard and gave it my all, but there were days I could have done better.
Jesus: Hmm I don't remember those days. What kind of a husband were you?
Us: I tried hard and gave it my all, but there were days I could have done better.
Jesus: Hmm I don't remember those days. What kind of father were you?
Us: I tried hard and gave it my all, but there were days I could have done better.
Jesus: Hmm I don't remember those days.
Anyways I hope that made sense, but he shared that Christ's atonement is infinite, and when we truly repent of the mistakes we make, he remembers them no more.
A bientôt!
