Week 12
Monday 7am woohoo!! It’s such a miracle to me that I can connect to my son and see his cute face clear in a village in Africa! Blessings of technology!
Caleb’s first self done haircut! He did so good! He left the top alone so he still has to figure that out sometime soon but I am so proud of him he did great!
I screenshot these from the video 😁.
He makes me nervous here he is riding his bike, which brakes don’t work mind you, and he is filming and riding with one hand next to cars! But I love seeing what he sees every day. I tried to hear if I could hear the kids say, “le blanc!” The white!
Cailey forgot to ask him on our call how the Africans say his name so he replied with this video.
Yay for something familiar for breakfast!
This new supermarket just opened by him, it’s nice!
My friend told me the thing in the middle is Manioc. It’s made of manioc the same root vegetable they make atieke. It’s called placali. Sure looks cool though!
Cute doggy❤️.
I love his edits he does on his photos.
His water bottle broke so luckily his companion had an extra.
They had 57 people in this humble, sweet home for church Sunday. So touching.
Cute doggy❤️
His email from this week:
Salut!
Honestly this week flew by and I don't even remember what we did, but here we go. Last P-Day I had some time so I decided to cut my hair. It was getting pretty long so I trimmed it up. I just did the sides, but will probably touch the top next week. I'll throw a picture below but I think it looks decent.
The last couple weeks my bike's brakes didn't work great. My left one was broken and my right one barely worked. We had a hard time finding someone and the time to fix it. I only crashed into two taxis so don't worry about it… okay not actually. I bumped one taxi in the back, and then another one cut me off, and my bike got caught on it. I just hopped off and waited for the taxi to stop dragging my bike across the road. The nice thing is we got that fixed this week so now I can actually stop.
My companion and I got a cold this week. My companion got it first, and I got sick a couple days later. The weird part was I healed before he did. I'm very grateful for that but it was a little interesting.
My French is coming, but it's still a slow process. If we are in a lesson I can understand a lot because we're talking about the gospel. As soon as we're not, I have a harder time understanding. It is cool looking back and seeing how far I've come, but it's also depressing seeing how far I have to go. But it's a fun process.
This week we spent a lot of time teaching new members and friends of the church. It is so cool seeing these people listen to us, change their beliefs, and then start to build a strong testimony even when they don't know everything.
There was one lesson we taught this week. We taught the mom and she understood everything, had questions, and would listen to our responses. About halfway through the lesson her daughter came and started to question us about the sacrament. It felt like we answered every question perfectly with the scriptures to back it up. There was one difference though between the mom and the daughter. The mom had a sincere heart with real intent. The daughter was set in her ways, and was never satisfied with our responses.
Spiritual Thought:
That's going to be my spiritual thought today. As she was talking a scripture came into my head, which was Moroni 10:4:
And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.
It's a popular scripture but it talks about having a sincere heart with real intent. Questions are good. But, you have to be willing to receive the answer. I think this is why so many people ask, “Why doesn't God answer my prayers?” In the scripture it says God WILL give you an answer IF you are willing to do those three things; have a sincere heart, real intent, and faith in Christ. I know that our Heavenly Father hears us and knows what is best for us. As we turn to Him and his Son we will be blessed with greater knowledge, peace, and comfort in this life and forever.
Je vous aime et j’espère que vous passez une bonne journée!
