Week 14
This is my new home screen on my phone because I love that smile!
Family home evening in the dark.
President Litchfield visited Sunday. He let them know they are working on a bigger place to meet for church maybe a school until they find somewhere else and they might get another set of missionaries living with them soon because there are just so many people to teach!
His email from this week:
Bonjour a tous!
This week went pretty well, although nothing crazy happened so this email will probably be a little short. Last P-Day I cut the top of my hair. It was a little long and I wanted to cut it, so I did. It's not perfect, but it works. We also went to Family Home Evening that night like usual which was fun.
On Tuesday we had our district council. It was just over the phone but it went well. It's funny though I feel like there is an unofficial contest of who can share the most scriptures. It was just an hour but the other missionaries shared at least 25 different scriptures.
The rest of the week went pretty smooth. We are still teaching a lot of people. This week we focused on getting a lot of the members to come with us. Most of the members here are new members, but they already have really strong testimonies and can already share the stuff they just learned. A lot of them are also available a lot of the time and of course they know the village very well.
We have a couple baptisms next week so we made sure to visit those people a lot, but a couple people fell through which is unfortunate. My French is still coming which is nice. If we are in a lesson I feel like it's decent, but when we're not in a lesson, it's definately not as good.
Sunday was the biggest day of the week though. President Litchfield who is our mission president came to N’Douci for sacrament meeting. We usually meet at 9am, but changed to 11am for him. We couldnt tell everyone though so everyone waited two hours for him to show up. It was worth the wait though. The work here is progressing a lot so he came to see for his first time, and to also talk about the building situation. We just meet in someone's house, but we have too many people now. There is a temporal affairs team in Accra who deals with the buildings here, and they are telling us to meet in a school while they find a really good building. It's not ideal and the members don't love it, but it'll work for a little. He also said that we will have a second set of missionaries here probably next transfer, and N’Douci will soon become a branch. It is cool being apart of this great work.
Spiritual Thought:
This week I read D&C 6 and verse 7 stook out to me:
Seek not for riches but for wisdom, and behold, the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto you, and then shall you be made rich. Behold, he that hath eternal life is rich.
I like this scripture because we are all rich. Not temporally rich but spiritually rich. We have the Book of Mormon and we know the true church. There is that story of President Nelson giving a leader the Book of Mormon and saying something like you could have given me diamonds or rubies, but nothing was more meaningful than this book. I am grateful for the opportunity to make people spiritually rich through the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Thanks for your prayers and I hope you have a great week!
