Week 25
We were in Vegas for a soccer tournament and Bryan and I got up at 5am to talk to him. The girls slowly got up after!
They fill these bottles up with water and put them in the fridge to have cold water. Caleb chugged this one!
The connection was so clear most of the time, it was awesome!
Cute dog in the church!
Ewww!
Wow those women are impressive balancing on their head.
He made this and his companion really liked it! It is noodles, water, tomato paste, onions…and I think that was it.
Cool picture but man that horse needs some food.
Caleb and his companion Elder Mayele.
He got the bead ties! This person makes them and sells them to the missionaries. Getting fancy ties is THE thing to do there for the missionaries! He is going to get some other cool ones soon too. Very fascinating I kind of want to try and do it!
Zone conference. Tall Caleb is always in the back!
He sent this screen shot. Kind of funny they have a count down.
Alloco. Fried plantains. Bryan bought some and we are going to try it but without the pima that makes it spicy!
At the church where they played soccer.
A bridge he walked across!
His email:
C'est comment ??
This week has been a pretty chill week so this email might be a bit shorter. Our sector, Gandhi, is still pretty gâté so we spent some time trying to contact people in the small space we have.
Monday we didn't go out to sector because… well actually I have no idea. Tuesday we had a couple appointments and then spent some time contacting. One of the appointments was at the stake center. We got there on time and then we called him saying we were there and he could come over. He didn't answer, even after calling him 11 times. We thought it was weird until we realized after an hour that we called the wrong number. So we called the right number, he came over, and we had a great lesson.
Wednesday was the same thing. Thursday we had an appointment. This was the same guy I just mentioned. He is progressing really well. He accepted to get baptized and already told us the church is true. But he lives with someone and isn't married, so we have to work through that. Hopefully it'll all work out and he can get baptized.
On Friday we had Zone Conference. It was at the mission office. When we got there the office didn't have power. It was funny because out of all of the buildings in our mission, you would think the nice office would always have power, but I guess not. Oh and the backup generator was also broken. We ended up using the Abidjan East's office because they were next to us but had power. We did half of our zone conference there, and then went back to our office once we got power back.
It was only two zones so it was a more intimate conference. We talked a lot about our key indicators and the Book of Mormon. It was awesome. I also got a lot of answers and advice as I was talking with the other Elders. Also I wasn't in a village so traveling wasn't a big problem.
Saturday we had a few appointments, but a couple of them fell through. Sunday we went to church and finally met the bishop. It was a bit weird, and he also chastized the people about repentance. It was too bad though. We went out to sector in the evening. My companion just told me though he doesn't contact Sunday’s, so we just walked around our tiny sector for a couple hours and then left. It was great.
Monday we hung out. We were going to have a district activity, but Elder Walker got emergency transferred, so we were a little busy doing that.
Spiritual Thought:
This week in Come Follow Me we read D&C 2. I want to focus on the last verse. This section talks about how Elijah will come to earth to restore the sealing power. Verse 3 says:
If it were not so, the whole earth would be utterly wasted at his coming.
I love how straightforward this verse is. Without the sealing power of the priesthood, and without the ability to be sealed together as families, the earth would be worthless. We are all put into families on this earth. We have our heavenly family, the family we were born in, and the family we create. Sometimes our family situations aren't great, but as we do everything in our power and focus on the covenants we make in the temple we will be blessed with an eternal family.
Thanks for all of your prayers and have a great week!
Elder Robinson
