Week 31

This picture is called Worth of a Soul by Liz Lemon Swindle. I saw it in our come follow me lesson and I loved it and sent it to Caleb.

Monday call! He has the sim card now because he is the senior companion, so it is great talking to him, it's clear and no dropped calls!

Him showing us his area.

He went and got alloco from a lady down the street for lunch. She cooks it in front of her house. He is smart and tells the lady to give him the egg like this with the shell on it so she doesn't peel it and wash it in her water that isn't filtered. So he is peeling the egg here. They are brown.

Caleb called us while getting alloco so it was cool he showed us how they do it.

Man I hope Caleb is close to this bakery and able to get a cake like this for his birthday in May!

Yummy ice cream, heaven.

A suit made out of pagne. It is another Elder's.

Pagne ties!

These guys were replacing the lock on the door to Caleb’s apartment.

I told Caleb’s companion Elder Motingoe when we were talking to him on Monday to make Caleb where one of his three hats I sent him! No luck so far!

This is a monkey or baboon or something! Caleb didn’t want to be super obvious he was taking a picture so he snapped it as he was walking by.

Soccer game!

Zone conference! Elder Morrison of the seventy and his wife spoke. Caleb got to play the piano for it! Sister Litchfield had called Caleb the week before and asked him if he would do it. He did an opening song and a special musical number that some missionaries sang and the closing song and postlude! ❤️🎵Makes my heart so happy!

Caleb's district.

Elder Morrison.

Peanut Butter, he bought it to make a sauce that is popular there. Bryan sent him a simplified recipe to make it. But it is called sauce arachide you put it on chicken and rice.

 His email for this week:

On dit quoi

This week was a cool week. We had a mission conference on Tuesday which felt like forever ago, but at the same time it doesn't feel like it should be P-Day again. I don't understand time… haha

Monday was p-day like usual. Zone Conference was the next day and our apartment is close to the stake center. So throughout the day some elders said they were going to sleep at our place for the night. So we had 6 other missionaries come to sleep at our apartment, which made it 10 in total. Half of us were Americans which was awesome, and I got to hang out with Elder Christensen and Elder Reed again which was sweet. We also only had one working AC so half of them just slept in the living room with an open window because it was so hot.

Tuesday morning was a bit crazy trying to get out of the door, but it all worked out. We headed over to the Toit Rouge stake center. Elder Morrison from the 70 did a mission tour and so we had a mission conference with him. I played the piano which has been a long time since I've done that. Elder Morrison talked for a lot of the time. He taught us a lot of important things about missionary work. My favorite was that he didn't mess around with what he was saying. He just said it how it was. He spoke English so the mission chauffeur translated for him.

We got KFC for lunch. For US standards it wasn't great, but for here, dude it was amazing. Especially the piment chicken burrito wrap thing. I don't have a picture of it though because I ate it so fast. After the conference we talked with some missionaries, got some things, and then headed back to the apartment.

Kouté is a good sector but we are still trying to learn it all. We know most of the friends and members, but not many of the new members. Our days here are either filled with a lot of appointments, or almost nothing. It depends on the day. Luckily Kouté is a bigger sector so we have some space to go contact people unlike Gandhi.

This week we put 2 more people on dates which should be awesome. One is a girl whose parents let her get baptized, and one is an older lady who is legally married, which is rare for côte d'Ivoire.

My companion still doesn't speak French, which means I do a lot of things, but it'll come for him and I'm learning a lot of things in the meantime. Sunday was a good day because I realized most people are at their houses, so we took the opportunity to hunt down a lot of people, and it was really successful.

Also random thing our AC in our room got fixed, which is amazing because now I can sleep well again.

This week should be a fun week because we have a new missionary training that we have to go to, and we will hopefully baptize two people.

Spiritual Thought:

When Elder Morrison was here he asked us this question, “What are you doing to protect your testimony?” I encourage you guys to ponder this question for your own lives. He told us to always continue the small things, especially studying the scriptures every day and going to church every Sunday. He also told us that after his mission, one of the biggest things was getting married with a wife that was willing to keep the same standards. So even though the wife is a post mission task, we all can do the small and simple things to protect our testimony.

Thanks for your prayers and I hope you guys have a great week!

Elder Robinson
