Week 51
Salut
This week was a pretty solid week. Last week we went to Cosmos. I was pretty cool, but it was kind of underwhelming because everything was so expensive and there wasn't much to do. So we got some Burger King and took it to go. After we went and got some soccer jerseys and then chilled.
Tuesday morning we got a new washing machine. It was long overdue, but now my clothes are nice and clean. We had district council and then a solid day in sector. Wednesday was another solid day in sector. When I wasn't in sector I was working on our key indicators presentation for zone conference. It turned out really well.
Our sector is pretty interesting. We have a lot of apartment buildings for two thirds of our sector, and then a bunch of ivorian homes that are bunched together for the other third. It makes finding people interesting. We have a lot of people that want to get baptjzed, but are not quite ready, so we spend a lot of time teaching. We should have a baptism this Saturday which should be nice.
Thursday we had zone conference. It was my first one with the Vore's. Our key indicators presentation went very well. We talked a lot about teaching with joy, inviting people to come to church, and contacting with nets which means asking everyone we meet for people they know that would be interested. We also had interviews with President. I was the last one so we left the office very late, but it was worth it because we were able to talk to other missionaries and Sister Vore.
Friday we had weekly planning. In the afternoon we tried to have an appointment with a friend, but he didn't explain his house well. So we tried to meet up with him for over an hour, but we were never able to find each other, so we moved on to the next appointment. It was kind of frustrating, but if you know Ivorians it's just because they can't explain directions very well. They'll just say, “C'est là-bas là, vers choses là” In any case, it's annoying.
Saturday I had an exchange with Elder Kartchner which was fun. Sunday we only had two lessons because we were doing other stuff, but those two lessons were really good lessons. After the second one the mama gave us Fettuccine Alfredo for dinner. It was incredibly good.
This week will be chill with some more exchanges.
Spiritual Thought:
“Joseph Smith, the Prophet and Seer of the Lord, has done more, save Jesus only, for the salvation of men in this world, than any other man that ever lived in it. In the short space of twenty years, he has brought forth the Book of Mormon, which he translated by the gift and power of God, and has been the means of publishing it on two continents; has sent the fulness of the everlasting gospel, which it contained, to the four quarters of the earth; has brought forth the revelations and commandments which compose this book of Doctrine and Covenants, and many other wise documents and instructions for the benefit of the children of men; gathered many thousands of the Latter-day Saints, founded a great city, and left a fame and name that cannot be slain. He lived great, and he died great in the eyes of God and his people; and like most of the Lord’s anointed in ancient times, has sealed his mission and his works with his own blood; and so has his brother Hyrum. In life they were not divided, and in death they were not separated!” D&C 135:3
I knew Joseph Smith was pretty awesome, but this scripture gave me such a bigger perspective and appreciation for him and everything he did. I know he was a prophet, and that he was the prophet that restored the Church of Jesus Christ. If you don't know that truth from “the inmost part” of your heart, go find out because it's true.
Thanks for your prayers and I hope you guys have a great week!
