Week 55

This is Pisam the nicest hospital in Côte d’Ivoire. Caleb’s companion needed to get some tests done so they went there. Caleb said the elevator was nice! This is him looking cool!

Area surrounding the hospital.

This bridge looks so cool!

Instead of hopping right into a taxi after the hospital they decided to walk down a street near by. Everything was so nice and the houses had gates and guards at them. There was a nice Mercedes parked at one.

This made me laugh so hard! His comment on this picture was, “me and this egg can relate!” They got a flat of eggs and they were all brown except one white egg😆!

I think this is the view from the place he stayed at for exchanges.

Exchange with Elder Kasongo in Niangon 5.

This is the Niangon 5 area they were walking around.

Three baptisms on Saturday. Two were a couple. Caleb’s comment in his email was, “It is always so cool being so involved in such an important part of their life.”

Caleb’s zone.

Caleb got this video from another missionary. This is how they make pagne! Wow!

His email this week:

Pisam

Salut tout le monde

This week was pretty chill, but pretty awesome at the same time. Last p-day was chill. We played some soccer, taught a couple, and had family home evening with the young adults in our ward.

Tuesday was a crazy day. We first went to district council. It was good but we went over a little bit. As soon as we were done we hopped in an orange taxi and went to Pisam. Pisam is the nicest hospital in Côte d'Ivoire. A member even said that Pisam is where the president of Côte d'Ivoire will come before he gets sent to Europe. Anyways it felt like we got teleported back to the US for a bit. Also don't worry none of us are sick, my companion just needed to get examined. The whole process took forever and it was kind of complicated because we had no idea what we were doing, but it turned out well. Luckily our mission doctor was there to help us out.

After we headed out and walked for a bit as we left hospital. Pisam is in a really nice part of Abidjan, and it was fun walking down the street. After we headed back to sector and were able to get one lesson in before heading back to the apartment.

Wednesday we had a solid day in sector. Thursday we had exchanges with Niangon 5. I was in their sector with Elder Kasongo. It went well. Their sector is the same size as my last zone, so we spent a lot of time walking between appointments. We had a good time and had some great lessons. My favorite part was getting a taxi. This probably won't make sense to a lot of you, but ça va aller. We were going to take an orange taxi because it is quicker and easier. A blue taxi with no one in it stops and gives the hand signal asking where we want to go. I said “carrefour canal” he said no and went to drive away and then I said “mille francs” He immediately said to get in and we did. The funny part was how quickly he said “montez” just because we would pay him a good amount.

Friday we had weekly planning and then had a good day in sector. Saturday was an amazing day. We baptized three people. Two of them are a couple. It was so cool because these weren't just people we found and baptized, but rather they have spent a long time getting ready for this moment. There were also a lot of other wards with baptisms which made organizing it very complicated, but it all worked out and it was great. It is always so cool being so involved in such an important part of their life.

Saturday we had another good day in sector. Sunday was a good day. We had a fireside with all of the missionaries in our zone and the ward mission leader but at the stake level. We brought up all of our problems and concerns in our different sectors, and then he'll take the information and they'll change this in the stake. It's not always the fastest process, but hey now our ward has a dmp so we are happy.

Today should be a normal p-day, and this week should be chill with exchanges and MLC.

Spiritual Thought:

A funny scripture I came across this week haha: “Set in order your houses; keep slothfulness and uncleanness far from you.” D&C 90:18

Thanks for your prayers and I hope you guys have a great week!
