Week 62 Oct 6th-12th 2025
Caleb's apartment is right by a helicopter pad. It has been going a lot lately.
Pringles!
Caleb's washing machine wasn't working and they thought it was just because the breaker was tripped.
Pagne he saw.
They found out the washer wasn't working because water from the rain got in it and it fried it.
The handy man came and spliced the wire and fixed it!
How did this not catch fire? The missionary bubble is real.
This was the most spiritual baptism Caleb has experienced. This sweet man came out of the font and just stood there and cried. He was just so happy. Caleb said everyone there was overcome by the spirit.💕
President Vore was at the church building having a meeting with the stake president so Caleb got to see him while they were there for the baptism.
I have been looking up the news going on about the elections in Côte d'Ivoire. I am just praying for peace for this country and the people living there. I am so grateful for the freedoms we have. Caleb was talking to the bishop this week and he was saying that the elections are getting kind of crazy again like they did last time in 2010. But he said that the foreigners should be fine.
le blanc c'est toi qui fabrique les avions ? (White, is it you who makes the planes?)
(This little kid said this to them while walking down the street!)
Salut
This week was a pretty good week. On p-day we just hung out. Some people came over and delivered a bunch of drinkable water for us in case we have to stay in our apartments for the elections.
Tuesday we had district council. In the afternoon we had this lesson with one guy. We were there for over an hour. He didn’t believe in the divinity and some other things. We taught this same guy on Thursday and the lesson was more intense. He had questions about Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon. It was interesting because at the end he knew we were right when it came to the divinity, Book of Mormon, etc., but he didn’t want to accept it haha.
Wednesday was a good day. At the end of the day Elder Walker came to do a baptismal interview for Bleu Michel. During the interview it started raining, but not too bad. It then became one of the hardest downpour’s I’ve seen here. All of the streets instantly became rivers. We were at the ward building, and just stayed there until it was safe to leave.
Thursday the handyman came to our apartment to fix our washing machine. I’ll put a photo below, but what happened was our washing machine was running while it was raining, and so water got into the extension cord and a cool reaction happened. We found out that it was broken on Monday because whenever we plugged the machine in, it would flip the breaker. Luckily we got it fixed and now we can wash our clothes again.
Friday we had weekly planning. The Stotts came to visit us which was fun. In the afternoon we had something weird happen. We had this friend that kept calling us so we could meet up with him. We met up at his business and then he let us in. We sat down and then his boss came in. We introduced ourselves a little bit. They explained that they want to do marketing with us, and then proceeded to do a 20 minute market presentation for us about their business. It was definitely a first, and something I won’t forget.
Saturday morning we had the baptism of Bleu Michel. It was just us, the sisters, our bishop, and our elders quorum president. It was one of the most spirit filled baptisms I’ve been to. Elder Nelson baptized him, and when Bleu Michel came out of the water he just stood there and cried for a solid minute. Everyone there was crying or on the verge of tears because the Spirit was so strong.
Right before the baptism started, we saw a bunch of military police walking down the street to stop a policital march that was going on. Needless to say that was the first time I actually felt like the elections were happening.
President Vore was at the stake center doing a meeting with the stake presidency and invited us to join. It was fun listening and seeing President. In the afternoon we went to a YSA ward activity. It went well. In the evening we went to Lokoa to do some baptismal interviews. We were walking down the road when these military police guys called us over to talk to them. I was a little nervous and then they asked us if we were missionaries for the church. We said yes. What happened was that there were people behind them that were saying “les temoins de Jehovah” and so the military police wanted to prove that they were wrong, it was funny. They also helped us find where we were going because we were a little lost.
Sunday went well. It is very difficult doing two wards at the same time, but it worked out.
This week we have exchanges and zone conference, which will be awesome.
Spiritual Thought:
Brik V. Eyre: “There is nothing that you have done that can’t be forgiven and ultimately corrected.”
This week I have been going back and studying the conference talks and I really liked this quote. As missionaries our goal is to help people repent and be baptized. This week we had a few lessons where the Spirit was working on our friends and how they have to repent. I am grateful to be able to testify to these friends that I know that Jesus is our Savior and that through him we can be forgiven no matter what we have done.
Thanks for your prayers and I hope you guys have an excellent week!
