Week 66 Nov 3rd-9th 1st week as assistant🤪
White shirt and tie for this p day! He was busy running around but got a second to talk to us amongst it all. The tie looks good!
He was talking to Elder Bowles' parents because Elder Bowles was talking to them and they said hi to Caleb and told him he would do great as assistant.
Elder Bowles and Caleb getting food. It was fun they got to hang out together while he showed him all the assistant stuff he gets to do.
He is getting some yummy food!
The church's ceiling.
Welcoming new missionaries. I remember Caleb's picture here when he arrived!
The mission truck.
I'm so grateful Elder Mondongue is willing and able to drive!
They stopped by to see the ocean in their travels.
Yummy pizza!
Lots of traveling around.
Taking a ride with the mission president and his wife!
They got to see the temple!
Dropping missionaries off.
Tired missionary!
More yummy food. It was dorito nachos, he said why have we not done this before? He said it was yummy!
And more yummy food. It was a Mac and cheese hamburger. One of the perks of being the assistant you get yummy food every now and then.
Poor Caleb first week of assistant and he got in an accident and got pulled over and had to negotiate the money to pay the officer. But the good thing is they were in a truck which held up great in the accident, where the guy slammed into the back of them. And the ticket for running an imaginary light they negotiated down from 10,000 francs to 2,000!
He even had a baptism! She was taught by Elder Bowles and Elder Mondongue. But he got to be there for it.
Matching ties for the assistants, office elders and Pres Vore!
Working in their sector!
Caleb baptized this guy in Base CIE 2. His name is Adjehi Jean-Jacques. This is him speaking in stake conference. Sister Vore took this picture and sent it to Caleb and told him what a great job he did speaking.
Zoom call for MLC.
This is a nice store by him.
His email:
Salut
Last week was the first time I missed sending out an email on p-day. Sorry about that but I was a little busy. This email might be a little long because a lot happened in the last two weeks.
Last week ended up being my last week with my fils bien aime. On Thursday I did an exchange with Elder Anderson. He is from Canada and speaks English and French. It went really well except that we had to wait 55 minutes for the relief society president to get to where we were going to meet up to go teach a friend. It was important though and she helped a lot in the lesson.
Friday we had to go prepare the baptismal font. It was a stake baptism, and so another ward was assigned to clean and fill up the baptismal font. I doubted it was going to happen. When we showed up the font was empty and dirty. After making some phone calls, Elder Nelson and I cleaned and started filling up. Not long after the water turned off at the stake center. It was really unfortunate. Luckily the sisters came back later when there was water and were able to finish cleaning and filling it up.
Saturday was a great day because we had the baptism for Charlene. It took her a while to get ready, but she was finally ready and got baptized. It was a cool experience, and the baptism went more or less smoothly.
Later in the day we were in sector when we had an appointment fall through. We were about to call the person, when I got a call from President Vore. He told me about my transfer news and how my role in the mission would be different, going from a zone leader to his assistant. I was shocked and it made the rest of our day a little hard to focus on.
Sunday was a happy and sad day. There were sooo many people at church. There were a ton of friends, almost all of the new members, and a lot of new members as well. It was cool seeing all our hard hard work pay off. It was also sad because I grew to love this ward, the members, and the friends. After church I didn’t have time to say bye because the assistants and office elders came and picked me up. We dropped off my stuff at my new apartment, and then headed to the office in Cocody. We didn't do much, but I did see the transfer board which was crazy.
Monday was technically p-day, but not really. We had meetings at the office to get us ready for transfers. We talked a lot about logistics and also office stuff. After we had our assistants meeting with President. It was cool and I learned a lot. In the evening I had a little bit of time to call my family.
Tuesday was transfers. We first went and dropped Elder Matthews off at the office, and then went to the Toit Rouge stake center. There we helped President and Soeur Vore do the sister transfer news. It was fun seeing the sisters' reactions. Then we quickly went to the Selmer stake center where we did the Elders transfers. That was awesome. We had a lot of things to deal with and questions to respond to, but it went well. We also did a training for the new trainers. Once we finished with transfers we took an Elder so he could go grab his stuff from his old apartment in Songon. After we went over to Jacqueville and got some awesome pictures of the ocean.
Wednesday was a long day. We went to the airport three different times. The first time was to pick up the missionaries from the Ghana MTC. In between we ate lunch. Then we went and got the missionaries coming from the Congo MTC. When the new missionaries showed up we asked where one of the missionaries were. They said, “oh she didn’t come with us, she didn’t have her passport.” Great. The third time we went with President and Sister Vore. We went and picked up the missionaries coming from the Provo MTC.
Thursday we got all of the new missionaries to the office and did their trainings. Me and Elder Mondongue did one, and then made sure they went through their rotations. After we took a bunch of cars and took them to the Selmer stake center so they could pick up their new missionaries. It was fun seeing them get their companions. After me and Elder Mondongue took some missionaries to Jacqueville. On the way back we visited Elder Motingoe, my fils bien aimé. We ate with them and then headed back to Cocody late.
Friday we had a chill morning. We went to the distribution center and did some other stuff. Then we went to lunch with President and Soeur Vore, the office elders, the Stotts, and the mission chauffeurs. I got an amazing hamburger. It was the first hamburger I’ve eaten here where it tasted like America. After me, Elder Mondongue, and Elder Akunasha went to do an emergency transfer and deliver stuff to some sisters.
On the way we were getting off the freeway, and on to the offramp. There was a little bit of traffic in front of us and we came to a dead stop. All of a sudden a yango taxi rear ends the back of us. We were perfectly fine. The truck was not badly damaged, but bro absolutely destroyed the front of his yango. It was really unfortunate and it added a lot of unnecessary time that we didn’t have. We got in contact with the police and insurance and blah blah blah. The truck still worked just fine so we headed out and did the emergency transfer. We then went to Songon to help the sisters with their sim card that wasn’t working.
Saturday we headed back to Sideci. We had a baptism in the morning which was awesome. I didn’t know her because we didn’t have any time earlier that week to go see her. In the afternoon we had our district council. The office elders were late so we did it in 20 minutes. After we went with the office elders to the airport to do some things. After we took a yango from the airport to our apartment in Sideci. We went out to sector for a little while because we didn’t have much time.
Sunday was a good day. We had a good time at church, and then had a good time in the evening in sector.
Today we are going to play soccer. This week we have a new missionary training, new district and stl training, a sister conference, and MLC. So it should be a fun week!
Spiritual Thought:
Alma 57:21 “Yea, and they did obey and observe to perform every word of command with exactness; yea, and even according to their faith it was done unto them; and I did remember the words which they unto unto me that their mothers had taught them.”
This week I was studying the war chapters in Alma and I really enjoy this scripture. These 2,000 stripling warriors went to war, and not one of them died. But it wouldn’t have been the case if they were not obedient to the commands which they received. As we are obedient to the commandments, we open the way for God to bless us in ways we couldn’t imagine possible.
Thanks for your prayers and I hope you guys have a great week!
Elder Robinson
