Week 75 Jan 12-19 Trip to The Gambia!

They had a district activity and went to a nice restaurant in Cocody and then went to the mall.Yummy food!

He called us while he was waiting to leave the stake center. When we asked where his companion was he said looking for a wife! He just wanted to go but he was talking to the sisters 😆!

He was able to go with Pres Vore to The Gambia to do exchanges and zone conferences there too, such a blessing! He headed to the airport early in the morning.

Waiting at the airport for the plane ✈️!

He had 3 stops before getting to The Gambia! He went from Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire to Lomè, Togo to Accra, Ghana to Freetown, Sierra Lione to Banjul, Gambia.

Poor Pres Vore was tired! They work so hard!

Welcome to Togo!

Elder Presbury brought a foldable piano on the mission with him. He is from Utah. Caleb did exchanges with him. You’ll notice the Rubik’s cube they were doing those together too.

We had a soccer tournament and passed through St George so we stopped by and visited Elder Bowles family. Caleb is going to room with him at BYUI so it was so fun to meet them! They are a great family! His dad looks just like him!

Zone conference lunch!

Elder Bowles! He is serving in a new area with Elder Bimai who Caleb trained. It is too far to get there for zone conferences so he zoomed in.

The Gambia zone the Senior couple the Pecks hosted at their apartment.

He found Prime!! It’s always fun when he can find something familiar from home.

An Elder made cinnamon rolls!

Pigs!

Elder Presbury.

Pizza!

He put on his messenger the Gambia flag!

Church was at a school house.

Heading back to Côte d'Ivoire!

We both traveled on the same days! We went to our soccer tournaments on Thursday and Caleb flew to The Gambia. Then Monday he flew back to Côte d'Ivoire and we drove back home! It was our turn to take him on an adventure! So Bryan was in Vegas with Cambri at one point and I was in Mesquite, NV with Cailey and Christa. Then Cailey's game went into overtime and PK's so he called us back later so he didn't have to listen to my screams!

He got a jersey from The Gambia!

On his messenger status he showed rain and Elder Bowles in Senegal showed sun!

His email this week:

Salut

Last week I said this week would be awesome… and it was.

Our week started off with a district activity. We went with the sisters in our district to a nice restaurant in Cocody and then went to the mall. After we hung out at the Toit Rouge stake center.

Tuesday we were at the office for basically the whole day. Wednesday we went out to sector. We drove to sector since we weren't living in our own apartment since there was no power. Sector went well and in the evening we had district council.

Early Thursday morning we got picked up by Frère Bouassa. We then picked up President and Sister Vore and then went to the airport. We went from Abidjan to Lomé to Accra to Freetown to finally Banjul, Gambia. We went up there to accompany the Vore's. It was a long day of traveling but it went well. When we got there Elder Presbury and Elder Hattaway were there to take us with Mario to their apartment.

Friday morning we got ready and headed out. We went to the Senior couple's apartment to do zone conference. Zone conference went well. It was chill since it was just in zone and the zone isn't that big. We waited for interviews to be done and then left with the Brikama Elders. On the way we decided to stop and go visit a two friends. The first friend gave us food and then we sang her Come Thou Fount with Elder Presbury's keyboard. It was fun. We visited another friend and then headed back.

Saturday we spent the whole day in sector. I was with Elder Presbury. We didn't head back to the apartment but had a mangez-vous around lunch time which worked out. We had a lot of success and it was fun at the same time.

Sunday we went to church. Brikama is a group and so we went to a school to do church. It was fun. After we had a meeting with the group, and then headed back to the apartment. We ate lunch and then went to sector. I went with Elder Makaya to his sector. It was lit except for we didn't have much time since his sector is far away.

Today we got up at 3h and headed to the airport. We did the reverse order to get here. We got back late in the day which meant our p-day kind of got messed up, mais ca va aller. On the flight there were 20 people from Sierra Leone that were headed to Cote d’Ivoire to go to the temple for the first time which was super cool.

This week should be chill, but we'll see.

Spiritual Thought:

While on the plane, President and I were talking about the gospel and he shared a couple scriptures that I'd like to share.

Mosiah 2:38 “Therefore if that man repenteth not, and remaineth and dieth an enemy to God, the demands of divine justice do awaken his immortal soul to a lively sense of his own guilt, which doth cause him to shrink from the presence of the Lord, and doth fill his breast with guilt, and pain, and anguish, which is like an unquenchable fire, whose flame ascendeth up forever and ever.”

Mosiah 3:27 “And their torment is as a lake of fire and brimstone, whose flames are unquenchable, and whose smoke ascendeth up forever and ever.”

We were talking about the Plan of salvation and the judgement. I love these scriptures because they help us understand how we will judge ourselves. As we make mistakes and choose not to repent, we will not want to be in God's presence. It's not that he will chase us out, but we will not want to enter his presence because of our guilt and filthiness. But as we repent and do better each day, we will be able to return to his presence and have an indescribable joy, instead of eternal misery.

Thanks for your prayers and I hope you guys have a wonderful week!
